She paints murals in bold and rebellious manner, creating imaginary worlds full of maverick characters that fight for their noble cause. “(…)is a leading figure in the vibrant Los Angeles street art and graffiti scene. The artist’s distinctive illustrative style and lush imagery are inspired by their Asian-American roots, comics, and erotic and psychedelic art. YS studied English and art practice at Stanford University, graduating in 2013. They explore sex, gender, and violence in site-specific murals, acrylic paintings, ink drawings, and sculptures. YS’s predilection for fantasy, hybrid characters, and play is exemplified by kitsch-poppaintings like Onsen Psychedelica (2020), in which shape-shifting figures rendered in bold colors bathe and preen. YS has created outdoor and indoor murals at the Long Beach Museum of Art and New York City’s 4 World Trade Center.”
