M-City

Prof. Mariusz Waras (M-City) was born in 1978 in Gdynia, Poland. In 2004, he graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk where he worked as a teaching assistant at Professor Jerzy Ostrogórski’s studio (2008-2014). For three years, he ran the Academy’s Graphic Design Workshop, and in 2013 he obtained his PhD from the Department of Painting. Since 2014, he has been working as a teaching assistant at Professor Henryk Cześnik’s Painting Workshop. mCity also runs the Street Art Studio at the Faculty of Painting and New Media at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.

He is a street artist, graphic designer, and illustrator who also makes use of stencils. He builds art installations, curates exhibitions and travels the world through his art. His mCity Project encompasses hundreds of murals worldwide and his works have been featured in a number of group and solo art shows in Poland and abroad. He is the chief curator of the 238×504 Hoarding Gallery in Gdynia, as well as one of the three curators of an exhibition series about street art in Poland. His fascination with cities and urban spaces is evident in his works, which include everything from small posters to large-scale murals covering hundreds of square meters.
